Does Kratom (Mitrogyna Speciosa) Work Well for Oxycontin Withdrawals?

Question by Adam M: Does Kratom (mitrogyna speciosa) work well for Oxycontin withdrawals?
Hey guys I am about to enter horrible Oxycontin withdrawals, as I am finally ready to quit. Basically, due to a horrible back injury, I have been using around 480 mgs a day for around 2 years and I am looking for a natural remedy to help ease the pain of withdrawals. I have heard OK things about Kratom for withdrawals, but nothing else really. If you guys know of any other natural remedies that might help, I would appreciate your suggestions, as well as your knowledge or experiences with Kratom. Please no advising the use of “Methadone” or “Suboxone” or any drugs as maintenance therapy. I am not looking to replace one addiction with another, especially not another pharmaceutical dependency. Thanks in advance everyone!

Need to Replace 300mg’s Methadone W/???Mg’s Oxycodone, Morphine Sulphate Ir, Etc…?

Question by codslick: need to replace 300mg’s methadone w/???mg’s oxycodone, morphine sulphate ir, etc…?
a pms told me if I couldn’t go down from 28 dalaudid pills to 8 per day in the next week he would send me to a methadone clinic. With that he laughed and threw me my script for the week and said I may go while he waltzed off singing some showtune in his extremely irritating, very nasal, and high pitched New York accent! I thought he must be joking! He was laughing after he said it, but no, the script was really for only 8 pill per day!! I don’t recall at all how many m’s those pills were , but other’s had told me I was very lucky to get them. But I was fast learning the very hard way who to believe and who to trust. The next day, a few hours after I took my first 2 of the day, I knew I was gonna be in big trouble. After 3 days I was back in the pms’s office begging for mercy!!!! He gave me a script for one more day of 8 pills and a referral form to any ” methadone clinic” I chose!!??I was scared to death!! I wasn’t a heroin addict!!! I didn’t belong in a place like that!!!!But I went.

I wonder who has you on Methadone…

Anyway, probably never. You’d have to wait until you’re sick, and that just seems silly to me.

Answer by Barb
You should be able to feel the effects now if all you are taking is methadone. Unlike Suboxone, methadone doesn’t block the high from opiates. Maybe the amount of methadone you were on just increased your tolerance. Be careful though. People sometimes overdose by using other opiates on top of methadone.

An opiate antagonist, Naltrexone (Revia/Depade, or for extended-release, Vivitrol) is a substance that helps block the effects of the chemicals commonly found in pain-killing medication.
This medication is recommended for detoxifications, and it prevents both effects of the drug, and lingering bodily cravings.
Ibogaine (derived from an African plant) is another opiate receptor blocker, and actually breaks down the withdrawal process from most depressants (like painkillers) to mere hours. A drug derived it- 18-methyoxycoronaridine, is still in the works, but has high promise for taking care of addictions and withdrawal process.

Heroin Was Thought to Be a “Cure” for Morphine Addition.?

Question by alex: Heroin was thought to be a “cure” for morphine addition.?
Heroin was thought to be a “cure” for morphine addition. Methadone is given to heroin addicts to help them control their drug use. Using the readings and your knowledge, what is your opinion about the use of drugs to get people off of drugs. How is it that our “solutions” cause new problems? Discuss the “new” epidemic of opiod pain killer addiction.

Really, stop trying to get other people to do your homework for you.

And it only happened to get people “even more addicted” to opiates.
