Question by : How to ease “withdrawal symptoms” from methadone?
I have been taking methadone now for 6 months, and I want to get off of it. I’ve heard of suboxone, but I wanted to know if there are any other ways/methods of withdrawing from it. I’ve gone up to three days off it, and was so sick. I get major anxiety which I take Klonopin for and it doesn’t help at all! I get chills/sweats, head is dizzy and confused, tired, achy all over like I have cancer of something, can’t sleep, irritable, diahrrea, no appetite. Please help!!!

The best way to quit methadone is to lower your dose by 10% every two weeks until your off (10mg if over 50mg, 5mg if under), not by skipping days. When you do finally stop, keep benadril and Imodium handy. Withdrawls come and go, day 10 and the third week are the worst. They should be all gone within 3 months or so. You shouldn’t mix methadone and benzo (klonopin, xanax, valium), it’s deadly (I’ve seen it many times). Suboxine is very expensive and generally doesn’t work.

Question by : I really need help. Anyone know home remedies for a Suboxone Withdrawal?
My husband is on day 4 of almost a complete “cold turkey” detox. He was taking Suboxone 8mg film strips once a day for 4 months to fill the need of the Heroin he was shooting for the 6 months prior.
The first day wasnt so bad for him, he took nothing and was able to sleep almost 6 hours. Day 2, not so good. He took 2 150mg pills of Trazadone I think its spelled. That knocked him out for a few hours and had all anxiety and depression at ease. Last night he took 1 Trazadone pill and it had the opposite effect on him for some reason. He was very restless very tired but unable to sleep. We’re on day 4 now and Im very nervous for him. He’s having anxiety and feels very sluggish. His body feels very tired and hes feelings all around like shit. If ANYONE has ANY home remedies to help, please let me know.    Read more...

Suboxone is a long-lasting partial opiod agonist. Compared to a full-agonist, such as heroin or methadone, suboxone behaves very differently. It is a very potent chemical, and in therapeutic use its ceiling dose is 32mgs. The suboxone has an extremely high ‘affinity’ for the brain’s opiod receptors, moreso than heroin. Because of this, the suboxone will override heroin.
Most people report needing to wait 12 hours (at the extreme low-end) all the way up to when withdrawals begin, somewhere between 30 and 72 hours. For an individual stabilized on their dose of suboxone, 24-36 hours appears to be a suitable length of time to “shoot through the suboxone.”    Read more...
