Question by Chloe: How can I get my boyfriend to SERIOUSLY understand that it’s “drugs” or “me”?
First of all, this is a tad long so if you get bored reading long questions, I would stop here. I just need to give some background.

We are both Heroin addicts. I’ve been on the Methadone program for 2 years now and was doing quite well. Methadone (sometimes called a legal heroin substitute but it doesn’t get you high at proper doses) keeps you from going through withdrawl and blocks the effects of heroin and other opiates if you do use. However, I’ve started detoxing. I didn’t feel sick or anything because it’s a slow detox. The problem is that my dose is low enough now that I can get “high” off of opiates like Heroin. Metadone usually blocks the euphoric effects when at a proper dose. I can NOT go back up on my dose at this point in detox but I can maintain my current dose and stop detoxing.    Read more...

Question by Michael: i need help on what i should do for my prescription(methadone vs subutex/suboxone)?
2 years ago i broke my l2 in a snowboarding accident. it was horrible! 7 days in the hospital, so much pain that i couldn’t sleep or do anything for months after. i wore a brace for 3 months and finally recovered and went to physical therapy. i’m 24 years old btw just wanted to throw that in there. anyways, i became dependent on pain pills. it started with 5mg oxycodone, then went to 10mg, then 30 mg oxycodone when i would have pain. eventually the pain became less, but i still had to take the oxy because i was dependent both physically and in a way mentally. about a year later i stopped off and on and eventualy was prescribed by my GP 10mg methadone for pain. i took this for about 4-5 months and he eventually told me he couldn’t give me anymore and i had to see a pain management specialist. i followed up and went to the pain management doc, and they suggested physical therapy. this is about a year later. i didn’t like the fact that i had to come in 2-3 times a week for exercises i could easily do at my home on my free time. i was also withdrawing from the methadone. i went to a psychiatrist who specializes in detox and he gave me suboxone. i would feel so crappy on the suboxone. i’ve tried subutex before and i remember it was a bit better. it made me feel better and allowed me to be more lively. anyways, i had a relapse for 1 month so i recently went back to my psyciatrist. he gave me 16 methadone pills. and i did a 4 day methadone detox. i used the methadone for 4 days and then on the 5th day nothing. i did use a little tiny bit of suboxone.    Read more...

Slowly cut down your intake cold turkey can be bad, just chop 1/4 off your tabs weekly.

I I am on 7 day detox off methadone. I had .to go cold turkey because I moved from New York to Ohio. I’ve been on 150 milligrams for four years now and did not meet the transfer requirements for this clinic in Ohio. I had to move here because I lost my house during Hurricane sandy I had no other option but here. I have no help it’s horrible I do not suggest doing it cold turkey. but in the same breath I know it can be done cause I’m doing I have two children a.m. for the husband I can barely do I have to get a shower and a week and I can barely function but somehow I manage. my mom has been a support system for me my husband um had lung surgery so he had to stay behind I think getting into client we more right for out of state travel for natural disasters to help with the process. I didn’t have a choice I had to do it was no other option I took my last till April 22nd today table 29th hopefully today will be better than yesterday. I’m going through once and had diarrhea everyday but the pain in my back in my stomach is the worst. hindsight is always 20/20 I wish I never went on the methadone program but what can you do I had major surgery and lost my life about me that I had major surgery so I was on very high pain killers by the time I get home and didn’t have no more already too far into the opiate grip. I just wish I knew then what I know now and I would have never gotten a program or I would not want to live in 15 or grants for four years because a disaster like but I don’t have a choice so I got to keep on going to my kids especially they need a mother back.    Read more...
