Oxycodone and Pregnant?
Question by bh_aka_bonnie: oxycodone and pregnant?
ive been on oxycodone 30mgs a day off and on for the past 2 months. i recently found out i was pregnant, i will be 8 weeks on friday the 23rd. i really want to quit bc i dont want to harm my baby or lose it, but ive done alot of research on this and all i can find is that oxycodone is considered safe during pregnancy but quitting cold turkey can cause a miscarriage. i need advice on how i can quit as soon and as safely as possible! some websites said doing a methadone treatment is safe and what most preg women do, but i rlly dont want to keep taking drugs, i just want to stop and never do them again but im so scared that by trying to save my baby i will actually end up losing it :'( should i try weeing off? like everyday slowly lower the dosage? or should i just take the chance of quitting cold turkey? i kno a baby feels withdrawal before the mother does and it breaks my heart. and i hate myself for being so stupid for even doing them in the first place. PLEASE no answers about me being a horrible mother! i already feel that way. just any POSITIVE advice PLEASE! also if i did do cold turkey would it be safer in eariler pregnancy since i havent been doing them that long or waiting unitll the baby is further along?

“The Thomas Recipe”. It helps you quit cold turkey without having to experience the worst of it. Just double check all the herbs and medicines to see if they are safe while pregnant. Actually just write it down and take it into your Dr. so you guys can go over it.

If you do end up having a bad withdrawal then just go back on the oxy, but the absolute lowest dose possible. It’s best not to expose your baby to more than you have to.
*You don’t have to take everything on the list.. like valium for example.. and you don’t want to get into a jacuzzi, hah.. but even if you only use a handful of the things listed they all help in different ways.
Drink as much water as you can without going overboard.. make sure and go for a longish walk in the morning and in the evening.. or something.. mild exercise helps your body get the chemicals out of your body faster and through withdrawal quicker.

If you’re pregnant, you need to be seeing an ob/gyn and taking maternity vitamins and folic acid for your baby’s health. Talk to the doctor and ask him/her about the safest way to quit.
