Pros and Cons of Residential Rehab
Residential rehab is a choice some addicts make when recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. It is also sometimes not the choice of the addict but is the choice of others who instinctively know the addict will not recover well on an outpatient basis. Nevertheless, there are hundreds of inpatient residential rehab facilities in the US, prepared to take care of even the toughest addict.
There are advantages and disadvantages of using a residential rehab. The advantages include the fact that the person has no other choice but to participate in programming because they are already there. Most programming is done on a daily and nightly basis in residential rehab because patients need to have ongoing reinforcement that keeps them on the straight and narrow.
In a residential rehab, the individual generally has no choice but not to use drugs or alcohol on site. Such things have been taken away from the person when they were admitted to the facility and, unless a friend or relative brings them drugs or alcohol, the individual has the perfect place to detoxify from the drug and receive the help they need to stay clean and learn all they can about addiction.
Residential rehab programs tend to be very intense. The programming begins in the morning and ends at night with a few breaks in between. The addicts are kept very busy learning about themselves and learning about addiction. They are given medications as recommended by a doctor and are kept on a good diet and exercise program that encourages good health and discourages addiction.
Residential rehab programs often hire a number of counselors and nurses, and have doctors on staff to manage serious withdrawal cases. This provides the maximum amount of care the person may need and is a really good place for someone with a serious addiction problem. What one nurse or addiction counselor may not be able to do, another might be very successful with. It just allows for more options of people and resources for the addict.
On the other hand, residential rehab costs a great deal more money than does outpatient rehab. The cost of inpatient drug rehab can easily run in the tens of thousands of dollars for a month’s stay or more at a good treatment facility. Fifty thousand dollars for a good facility is not out of the question, depending on the length of stay and on the quality of the facility. This compares to around 00 dollars or around 00 if one needs to be on methadone treatment.
There are pros and cons of residential rehab but most experts would recommend inpatient therapy if the patient is a long term addict, a drug addict or a person who needs a great deal of support during withdrawal of the drug.

Exit to The CITY LIBRARY Punch up the computer and click on “The Fiskeby Station + Accident.” Read about the suspicious death of Erik Nyman, the husband of Elvira Wallin – mother of Viktor. The Fiskeby Station has been closed for 50 years and rumor has it that the ghost of the stationmaster, Nyman, still haunts the premises. There is local argument about tearing down the station. Exit to THE FISKEBY STATION Walk around the station building and try all the doors. You’ll have one close up of a window with wilted daisies, but you’ll enjoy no entrance to this main building. Go around to the front of the building, where you are facing the main entrance. Turn right. Go forward twice along the tracks and turn left to see an old out house. Go forward and enter. You can open door #1 and door #3 for no reason, but you need something to open #2. Exit the building and look right. Go forward once. Turn right. Go forward twice and turn right. Go forward to the yellow out building you …
