Methadone for Heroin Addict Friend?
Question by Ems Rauessigruhren: Methadone for heroin addict friend?
So, my friend & i went to her clinic and the doctor put her on 20mg of methadone + she may be put on Buprenorphine. every week she will be pushed up. Her doctor might put her on 130 to 140 mgs of methadone.
…is this too much?
or not common?
She has been an heroin addict for 15 + years. one side of me thinks, she should be put on a heavy dose of it, since her heroin dosage was 130 mgs + to feel comfortable.
but another side of me says thats too much and she may get addicted to methadone fast.

Methadone is way more addictive than heroine
and far more dangerous
if your friend really wants to quit, you need to quit all heroine-like drugs, including prescriptions
try fighting the withdrawals by chugging hard liquor. brandy worked for me
drink until you pass out from the alcohol so that you won’t do heroine
after about 2 weeks you can let go of the alcohol and you won’t get the withdrawals anymore
then you will need to fight the cravings with some good marijuana
the weed will fullfill the need to get high and you won’t relapse to heroine
if you need something stronger than weed – drink some brandy
after a few months on the weed, you will forget all about the heroine
worked for me

Ok well I disagree that methadone is more dangerous than heroin for these reasons:
A. It is being administered in a controlled fashion
B. The effects are not as euphoric/pleasurable/intense as heroin
For someone who is addicted to heroin, of course there are serious consequences, like the worst. If they need this temporary maintenance therapy to get to a place where they can get off of it and get their life back on track, then I am for it even though it might not be ideal.
