Residential rehab is a choice some addicts make when recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.  It is also sometimes not the choice of the addict but is the choice of others who instinctively know the addict will not recover well on an outpatient basis.  Nevertheless, there are hundreds of inpatient residential rehab facilities in the US, prepared to take care of even the toughest addict.

There are advantages and disadvantages of using a residential rehab.  The advantages include the fact that the person has no other choice but to participate in programming because they are already there.  Most programming is done on a daily and nightly basis in residential rehab because patients need to have ongoing reinforcement that keeps them on the straight and narrow.    Read more...
