I can get a lot of signatures on a petition if that helps. What I want to do is make it mandatory for jails and prisons to administer Methadone provided that the person arrested is 1. in a Methadone program when arrested 2. if the jail cannot supply the Methadone, someone from the clinic or the prisoner’s family must bring it daily 3. the prisoner is responsible for all costs and 4. that the person wasn’t arrested on a drug offense. As of now, it is up to the individual jails and I don’t think that’s right. Methadone withdrawl is cruel and unusual punishment and most people would rather have corporal punishment. It is also true that if a person is suddenly taken off of Methadone that they could die. I would even be willing to suggest that at the very least they allow the prisoner to be detoxed at a reasonable pace. Also, many people WILL immediately go back to Heroin once they are released. I’d like to make a speech and address it. I’m very articulate and educated so what next?

I am on the methadone program and have been clean and sober for 1 year 11 months and two days, up until Sunday evening that is. Now I didn’t use down which is good, but I did use meth. For what reason I don’t know, or I don’t know if I know. What I don’t know is what to do now. My idiot side feels like ‘oh well I used so maybe I should just keep on using’, but then the practical side says to just keep working one day at a time. So what if I had a slip. Obviously there is a reason I feel I should go back on drugs full time so maybe I need to figure out what is wrong. Or something. To be honest I am pretty disgusted with myself right now. I wasn’t even craving dope. I am so disapointed in myself I think it would be easier for me to continue on high rather than deal with being mad at myself. I promised my son (now 7) when I got clean that I would never use again and I let him down. He was not with me when I did it. I can’t tell him. & I have 2 know I failed him. I am so mad. What do I do?
‘Down’ is what I call morphine or heroin
I use to do both ‘up’ (meth) and then ‘down’ (heroin). That is why I am on the methadone program, it helps ppl get off and stay off ‘down’. The category that both heroin and morphine falls into is: ‘Opiates’
I have not done any of that. Only meth (speed).

I have become a tramadol addict i need at least 500mg a day or i feel sick, get cold sweats, and extreme depression, going to private clinic tomorrow to start methadone program, starting with the lowest dose, i know that it usually is for people coming off heroin, but if i dont get on the methadone i’ll end up o.d. at home. sorry have asked similar ques. before, anyone have any, comments, advice, experience, with either of the evils?

I got a second DUI within a few months of each other thank-you to being on a methadone program. I feel I am being harrassed by police because they know I am on Methadone and thats the only reason they stop me, they know it will stick! I was not impaired as they say, cops lie,lie lie! If given the proper dose of methadone it doesn’t impair you! How do I fight it? I honestly don’t feel I deserve this second DUI,just got ma cop who likes to be MR. Tough Guy on my back!
Methadone if given a propper dose of it and you are on Methadone maintiance it does not affect people like you think!
You don’t get the high off methadone like everyone thinks! Before you shoot it down and critisise it, research it! No I was not driving under alchole! My first DUI was also because of Methadone. The clinic I dosed at said it was ok to drive! They have a medical Dr. that monitors us to make sure we are not on to high a dose, I encourage everyone to do some research on the subject! If infact I do get convicted does that mean my clinic could be liable for letting me drive intoxicated? They infact said I was safe to drive!
