I’ve been with my boyfriend now for eight years. The first years were great but the past few have been very troubled. We are both drug addicts but I’m in recovery and I believe he’s still using. Heroin is the drug of our choice. I’m on the methadone program. He lived with me up until about a year ago when I went away to a rehab for a few weeks. He’s been using Heroin on and off for months now. He’ll use it for a month and then quit for a week and do this over and over again. He swears he isn’t using again but I only seem once a week! He was calling me every night after work but the past few nights, he’s been ignoring me when I call his cell and calling me back late. He claims he was napping or with a guy friend that doesn’t use. He could also be cheating on me (we’ve both cheated on each other). If he’s using again, I can’t go on like this. Or if he’s seeing someone else. I’ve asked him to take a drug test in the past and he says sure but then I’ve never actually gotten one. They sell them at the drug store. If I actually did get one, how do you think he’d react? Should I also just come out and ask him if he’s seeing someone else? He’d probably lie either way. The bottom line is HOW CAN I GET HIM TO BE HONEST WITH ME? I’ve been trying really hard to get better. I’ve been doing the methadone program and seeing a therapist for depression and anxiety as well. I can’t just break up with him. I love this guy too much. I know that you can’t change someone though that doesn’t want to change. Please help me, I’m a wreck.
