Which college courses do I have to take to become a clinical consultant for substance abuse treatment?
It might seem stupid but I am looking for a career in this field.
I don’t know if I have to take psychology, nursing or other.
I would like to get involved in substance abuse treatments, detoxification, Methadone Detoxification.

Course work in psychology, biology, chemistry, nursing, counseling, and even social work would be likely choices. You should call a local center and ask what exactly they would be looking for in an applicants resume and degree.

This doesn’t seem stupid at all given humans will always have substance problems…..you will always have a job, and all the better if you have a passion for this type of work.
A four-year nursing degree is very versatile and will give you more work options. I would choose nursing, unless you exclusively want to be a clinical psychologist in which case you need a PhD in psychology or masters in social work.
